Your Bio

I have been in culinary arts for many years but my real passion has been photography. Living in California we are surrounded by ghost towns, abandoned mines, mountains, desert and all make for fantastic settings.
Primary emphasis for my photography has been landscapes and "could be" historical places. The majority of the photos on my site were shot while on motorcycle road trips.....most to places a motorcycle shouldn't have been.

Route 66 plus all Others : Highway 395, Hwy 101, Route 66, Interstate 40 and many other of these routes are scenic and rewarding on many levels. Some are accessible only by four wheel drive, this is where the motorcycle now gets parked and the Jeep makes the trip. Amazing once bustling towns are all now but forgotten.

Rhyolite, Nevada : Rhyolite is a ghost town in Nye County, in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is located in the Bullfrog Hills, about 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas, near the eastern edge of Death Valley. The town began in early 1905 as one of several mining camps that sprang up after a prospecting discovery in the surrounding hills. During an ensuing gold rush, thousands of gold-seekers, developers, miners, and service providers flocked to the Bullfrog Mining District. Many settled in Rhyolite, which lay in a sheltered desert basin near the region's biggest producer, the Montgomery Shoshone Mine. By the end of 1910, the mine was operating at a loss, and it closed in 1911. By this time, many out-of-work miners had moved elsewhere, and Rhyolite's population dropped well below 1,000. By 1920, it was close to zero.

Newberry Springs, California : The original name of Newberry Springs was "Water". Since its earliest days the area in and around Newberry Springs has been a source of water for the surrounding arid region. Camp Cady, located just a few miles from present-day Newberry Springs, was a resting place and watering hole along the Mojave River for wagon trains coming to California in the 1850s on the old Mormon Trail. In the 1880s the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad hauled tank cars of water from Newberry Springs to the stations and towns in the region, making life in this arid land possible. Lake Dolores Waterpark (which also operated under the names Lake Dolores, Rock–A–Hoola Waterpark, and Discovery Waterpark) is a defunct waterpark in Newberry Springs in the Mojave Desert of Southern California

Bodie, California : Bodie is a ghost town in the Bodie Hills east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, California, United States, about 75 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe. It is located 12 miles east-southeast of Bridgeport, As Bodie Historic District, the U.S. Department of the Interior recognizes it as a National Historic Landmark. The ghost town has been administered by California State Parks since becoming a state historic park in 1962.

Salton Sea, California : The Salton Sea is a shallow, saline, lake located directly on the San Andreas Fault, predominantly in California's Imperial Valley. The lake occupies the lowest elevations of the Salton Sink in the Colorado Desert of Imperial and Riverside counties in Southern California. Like Death Valley, it is below sea level. Currently, its surface is 226 ft below sea level. The deepest area of the sea is 5 ft higher than the lowest point of Death Valley. The sea is fed by the New, Whitewater, and Alamo rivers, as well as agricultural runoff drainage systems and creeks. Historic and New Jeddah Saudi Arabia : Saudi Arabia or Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is closed to tourism except for the pilgrimage to the holy sites. I was fortunate to be able to visit KSA and spent a half day touring and taking these shots in and around historic Jeddah. It is a young country but developing very fast. It has an incredible active historic district. The district is entered at the "three doors" which once stood as the entrance to the Kingdom.
